A pulse height analyzer and its associated threshold detection and logic circuitry, developed for general satellite application, is described. The analyzer has a capacity of up to 512 channels and will accept signals from scintillating crystal, solid state and proportional counter detectors having rise times in the range 200 nsec to 2.0 μsec. The threshold detectors and logic circuitry may be used to determine coincidence and anti-coincidence of detector inputs and for selecting events. The circuitry was designed to minimize power drain, weight and volume and to exhibit a high level of reliability while operating in the temperature range -20°C to 60°C. The basic circuitry has operated successfully in the instrumentation system for cosmic ray experiments on the Explorer 34 satellite. © 1969.
