摘要
Dyes differ in the efficiency with which they are able to sensitize the photodynamic degradation of susceptible amino acids. The photodynamic oxidation of histidine proceeds with a quantum yield of 0.2 when rose bengal is used as sensitizer, and 0.1 when methylene blue is employed. The addition of high polymers causes large and apparently nonspecific decreases in quantum yield. The kinetics of the photooxidation of histidine sensitized by both rose bengal and methylene blue agree with those observed for the proflavin-sensitized autooxidation of p-toluene diamine. © 1968.
