HALL EFFECT IN SINGLE CRYSTALS OF MAGNESIUM

摘要
The Hall effect has been measured in seven single crystals of high purity magnesium at room temperature. The results indicate that the two independent coefficients of the Hall tensor are equal, the metal behaving isotropically; R⊥ = R| = −(7.8 ± 0.8) × 10−11 m3 C−1. The single crystal values of the Hall coefficients for the hexagonal metals Mg, Zn, Cd, and Ti are tabulated; there is no simple relation between them and the axial ratio.
