摘要
Single crystals of NdAl3(BO3)(4) were grown by top seeded solution growth from a BaB4O7 flux. The lattice constants and the space group of the grown crystal was confirmed to be a = 7.279(8) Angstrom, b = 9.370(6) Angstrom, c = 11.139(4) Angstrom, beta = 103.35(5)degrees and C2/c by X-ray diffraction. At a cooling rate of 2.4 degrees C/day and a crystal rotation speed of 30-40 rpm with seed orientation in the [201] or [100] directions, transparent and light violet colored crystals up to 10 x 15 x 20 mm(3) in size were obtained. Seeding in the [10 $$($) over bar 1] direction, rotation twins with the twin law of three-fold axis parallel to [10 $$($) over bar 1] were often formed. By X-ray topography, crystal defects such as growth striations, growth sector boundaries, dislocations, inclusions and cracks were observed.
