[1R-(2-exo,3-exo)]-3-{[N-(3,5-Dimethyl-phenyl)]benzenesulfonylamino}-1,7,7-trimethylbi-cyclo[2.2.1]heptan-2-yl [2R-(2alpha,3beta,5beta,6alpha)]-tetra-hydro-2,5,6-trimethyl-4-oxo-2H-pyran-3-carboxylate, C33H43NO6S, M(r) = 581.7, orthorhombic, P2(1)2(1)2(1), a = 11.945 (2), b = 22.240 (6), c = 24.407 (5) angstrom, V = 6483.9 angstrom3, Z = 8, D(x) = 1.19 g cm-3 , lambda(Mo Kalpha) = 0.71069 angstrom, mu = 1.3 cm-1, F(000) = 2496, T = 293 K, R = 0.050 for 1992 observed reflections. The two unique molecules have similar conformations and orientations in the crystal lattice. The N atoms of the tertiary sulfonamides have pyramidal bonding geometries [sum of angles at N: 349 (2) and 347 (2)-degrees] and the N and S aromatic rings lie close to one another with angles of only 24.1 (4) and 28.4 (5)-degrees between their least-squares planes.
