MECHANISM OF HEXANE CRACKING IN ZSM-5

摘要
The selectivity of ZSM-5 for cracking n-hexane versus 3-methylpentane is shown to be a function of conversion. As conversion increases from ca. 1% to ca. 40% by adjusting the space velocity, (rate n-hexane conversion)/(rate 3-methylpentane conversion) increases. By adding small amounts of propene to n-hexane and to 3-methylpentane feeds, it is shown that the increased concentration of alkenes at higher conversions is the cause of the increase in selectivity for n-hexane conversion. How this fits in with postulated mechanisms in the literature for this reaction is discussed. © 1990.
