摘要
In this work the authors present a critical review of theoretical, numerical, and experimental investigations of the electrostatic ion-cyclotron instability. This instability is excited in a collisionless or slightly collisional magnetized plasma when electrons are drifting along the magnetic field lines. Special emphasis is devoted to experimental investigations in Q-machine plasmas and their interpretation in terms of various theories.
