A modification of the Thiersch operation using Mersilene woven strip is presented. Mersilene woven strip, which does not stretch, becomes firmly enmeshed in the tissues. Mersilene woven strip does not cause the adverse reactions associated with other materials previously used in the Thiersch operation. © 1969, American Proctologic Society. All rights reserved.
