HEMISPHERE FUNCTION AND DUAL TASK-PERFORMANCE

Two experiments are described in which the effects of a visual monitoring task on concurrently performed manual sorting tasks were investigated. In the first experiment, monitoring visual input directed to a single celebral hemisphere did not differentially impair unimanual sorting by the contralateral or ipsilateral hand. In the second experiment, the effects of the visual monitoring task were found to depend upon which hand performed the more difficult of two simultaneously performed sorting tasks and upon the hemisphere to which the visual stimuli were presented. © 1979.
