EFFECTIVE-MEDIUM THEORY FOR STRONGLY NONLINEAR COMPOSITES - COMPARISON WITH NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS

摘要
The effective-medium approximation ( EMA) is developed to study the bulk effective response of a class of strongly nonlinear conducting composite media which obey a current-field (J-E) relation of the form J=chi\E\(2)E, in an attempt to extend the validity of the previously derived dilute-limit expressions to larger volume fractions of inclusions. The EMA results are compared with numerical simulations in nonlinear conductance networks and excellent agreement is obtained for all volume fractions.
