摘要
A linear relationship between log molecular weight (MW) and peak elution volume (Ve) in GPC can be formed with relative ease experimentally over rather large MW ranges. Considerable advantage in data reduction is obtained for polymers whose GPC curves fall in the linear region described. Any two polymers, one being any standard, can be directly compared in terms of their molecular weight distribution features by directly comparing their GPC curves, provided both GPC curves fall on linear portions of their respective calibrations. This comparison is valid even though the two curves may lie on different calibrations. Therefore, it is not required to know the calibrations absolutely but only that they would be linear, semi-log in the region of interest. A new type of universal calibration relating slope of the calibration line to resolution is presented to validate these findings. © 1969, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
