SURFACE-TEMPERATURE EFFECTS IN DISSOCIATIVE ADSORPTION - D2/CU(111)

摘要
By coupling the potential energy surface to a surface oscillator the effect of the surface temperature on the sticking probability for dissociative adsorption in the system D2/Cu(111) is investigated. Using a forced oscillator model with the surface recoil perpendicular to the surface does not reproduce the experimental findings. A good agreement with experiment can be obtained if the recoil is assumed to be along the reaction path thus simulating a surface recoil under a certain angle to the surface normal.
