摘要
A field study of the effect of differentially diluted raw sewage irrigation and nutrient fortication on growth and yield of crops and soil properties was conducted at NEERI for a period of ten years. The objective was to regulate the nutrient supply through sewage irrigation as per crop requirement. Over these years, there was a considerable build-up of nutrients in the soil. A crop of rice was grown to evaluate the residual effects of long-term application of the wastewater on crop growth and soil properties as compared to the normal practice of irrigation with water and chemical fertilizer. It was found that wastewater application does exercise some residual effect with special reference to enriched soil fertility.
