摘要
The chemical and morphological structure of a polymer surface determines its interaction with the biological environment and the ultimate fate of the material in the body. Of primary importance in the initial interaction is that of protein adsorption. For examaple, some of the present authors (L. C. M. and D. J. L. ) have previously shown that the nature of this protein adsorption can influence platelet adhesion and subsequent thrombus formation. Thus, determining the composition of the adsorbed protein layer which forms on a polymer surface is important in the study of biomedical polymers. The authors report here a method used in their laboratory for desorbing and analyzing electrophoretically, an adsorbed protein layer.
