SEMI-REALISTIC STRUCTURE CALCULATIONS IN LEAD REGION

A model for carrying out nuclear-structure calculations is proposed which lies intermediate between the microscopic and the phenomenological approaches. The first-order interaction is taken to be the non-local Tabakin potential with core polarization effects simulated by additional pairing-plus-quadrupole forces. A discussion of our approximations as well as the results of a shell-model calculation on the eight nuclei having a 208Pb core ±2 nucleons is presented. Results are very good compared either to phenomenological calculations or to experiment. © 1969.
