In this paper, we present measurements of the decay parameters for n. The usual decay parameters and are related to by the equation =(1-2)12sin and =(1-2)12cos. Polarized were produced by the reactions K-p in the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory's 25-in. hydrogen bubble chamber. The average momentum of the incident K- beam was 385 MeV/c. The measurements of were made by observing the left-right asymmetry in the np interactions of those decay neutrons that subsequently scattered on the hydrogen in the bubble chamber. We obtain -=1419 deg and +=143 29 deg. Since =(|s|2-|p|2)(|s|2+|p|2), this shows that -n- takes place predominantly in the s wave, whereas + n + is dominated by p-wave decay. These results are in agreement with the l=12 rule. © 1969 The American Physical Society.
