This paper examines the steady and linearized motion of a non-equilibrium inviscid gas past a thin body. The use of the form in distributions of the motion equations permits the problem to be straightly approached. For symmetrical bodies the determination of the velocity and pressure fields reduces to the calculation of some Fourier transforms. For bodies with no thickness the subsonic and supersonic motion regimes must be separately examined. For subsonic motion, the equation of the lifting surface theory is given. For high aspect ratio wings a lifting line theory is developed. In the case of supersonic regime and for wings having only supersonic edges, the determination of the function n(x,y) reduces to the calculation of a Laplace transform. The last section of the paper discusses the chemically reacting flow of an inviscid gas over a wall. © 1979 Springer-Verlag.
