摘要
This study confirms that amyloid contains at least two distinct morphologic units, the ring and the filament. A method for obtaining both of these units in the same amyloid suspension is described. The two units are observed side by side, and their measurements are given. Both units are considered characteristic of the particulate amyloid, and their ratio is about 90-95 % filaments and 5-10 % rings. A model of the fibril ultrastructure is proposed. The effects of various purification methods on amyloid morphology are discussed. © 1969 Academic Press, Inc.
