ABSORPTION OF ACETONE IN A 2-IMPINGING-STREAMS ABSORBER

The effectiveness of various spray absorption configurations which are based on the new technique of absorption in two-impinging-streams as well as on conventional absorption techniques in a single spray, were tested by absorbing acetone from air into a water spray. The major conclusions are: (1) absorption rates of acetone into two-impinging-streams are significantly higher (up to a factor of four) than absorption rates in two streams separately operated under identical conditions and (2) absorption rates of acetone in to-impinging-streams are higher than in a single stream but the enhancement is less pronounced than above.
