摘要
Originally, all finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) work represented curved or oblique interfaces with staircase models. Now, however, techniques for conformal meshing are available. Their use can typically reduce by a factor of 256 the number of numerical operations required to achieve some fixed accuracy. We demonstrate this result for two two-dimensional examples: transverse electric field (TE) scattering by a conducting strip and by a circular conducting cylinder.
