摘要
Measurements of flow birefringence and flow field orientation of two Polyox polymers (200,000 vs. 6,000,000 molecular weight) in aqueous solution indicate that these macromolecules continue to deform with increasing velocity gradient even after alignment with the flow field has been essentially completed. For a large number of Polyox compounds in the molecular weight range of 500,000 to 6,000,000, equivalent drag reduction effects are produced when comparisons are made at the same fraction of the polymer critical concentration. © 1969, American Chemical Society.
