摘要：

This paper discusses the problem how to account for regularities in the interpretation of complex words. It will be shown that in some cases the interpretation of a complex word is not completely determined by its morphological structure, but is the result of an interaction between linguistic structure and non-linguistic information. The consequences of this ‘pragmatic’ approach to the semantics of word formation processes for the theory of morphology will be discussed. © 1979, Walter de Gruyter. All rights reserved.
