INTERPRETATION OF PHOTOEMISSION SPECTRA OF CU IN TERMS OF SURFACE-DENSITY OF STATES

摘要
The electronic density of states at the (100), (110) and (111) surfaces of Cu has been calculated using the transfer matrix technique for a realistic tight-binding hamiltonian. The calculated densities of states are in good agreement with photoemission spectra obtained for the synchrotron radiation energy range corresponding to the minimum photoelectron mean free path. This indicates that, in this energy range, the photoemission process is governed by the surface density of states. This interpretation allows us to distinguish in the photoemission spectra between bulk and bona fide surface states also in accordance with our calculations. © 1979.
