Twelve Ss with a history of excessive alcohol consumption were treated with a one-trial extinction by punishment procedure using succinylcholine chloride as the UCS. Previous reports have indicated favorable recovery" rates but after a 1-yr- follow-up only two Ss reported continued abstinence. Possible factors affecting these contradictory results are discussed with modifications of procedure proposed. © 1968."
