摘要
Brittle cellular materials are increasingly used in engineering applications as filters in metal castings and as the platinum carrier in automobile catalytic converters. In both applications, thermal cycling generates multiaxial stress states. In this paper we develop models for the failure of both isotropic and anisotropic brittle cellular solids under multiaxial stress conditions. The results of the models are compared with data from biaxial and axisymmetric tests on reticulated carbon foams; the overall agreement between the models and the test results is satisfactory. © 1990.
