摘要
In the presence of 10-5 M or larger concentrations of EDTA in acetate buffer, a lead dioxide electrode exhibits relatively high anodic currents at positive potentials. The mechanism for this electrode reaction was investigated. The results of experi- ments including manual current -voltage plots, u.v. absorption, coulometry, chronopo- tentiometry, and linear sweep voltammetry are presented. A mechanism is suggested which involves oxidation of non-stoichiometric (defect) lead species in the electrode lattice by electroinductive coordination effects of EDTA and a catalytic electrode reaction mechanism. © 1968.
