MASS SPECTRA AND STABILITY OF DIAROMATIC-CHROMIUM COMPLEXES

The mass spectra of some dibenzenechromium derivatives {Cr(C6H6)2, Cr[1,3,5-(CH3)3C6H3]2 ,Cr(C6H6)(C6H5C6 H5), and Cr(C6H5C6H5)2} are reported. The fragment formation proceeds almost exclusively by successive elimination of the ring ligands. Ionisation potentials as well as appearance potentials were measured and were used to calculate dissociation energies and total bonding energies for the gaseous cations and the neutral complexes. The following stability sequence is established for the metalligand bond strength in the neutral complexes: {A figure is presented}. © 1969.
