摘要
The stability of a horizontal, two-component fluid layer subjected to a vertical temperature gradient is investigated in the case of a container rotating with uniform speed. Rotation generally plays a stabilizing role, and quantitative results are given for its influence on the instability driven by the coupling of buoyancy forces to the Soret effect. The results found may be useful to experimentalists measuring the Soret effect by the thermogravitational method. © 1979 American Institute of Physics.
