摘要
The key to successfully modeling spore transport over any distance is the quantification of spore removal from the host and escape from the source region. Intermittency (gustiness) in the wind plays a major role in spore removal and escape that, in turn, plays a major role in shaping disease gradients for aerially dispersed fungal pathogens. The author examines the role of wind on spore dispersal, distinguishing between the effects of average and intermittent wind. Spore dispersal in gusty wind is related to deposition gradients of spores near sources and to the temporal and spatial development of disease epidemics. -from Author
