Photoneutron cross sections for Al27 and Si28 have been measured from threshold to 62 MeV using least-structure analysis of the bremsstrahlung activation curves. The aluminum yield was due to the reactions Al27(,n)Al26* and Al27(,2n)Al25. Secondary maxima in the aluminum cross section, occurring at energies beyond the giant resonance, peak at 49.40.8 and 56.30.9 MeV. The cross section integrated to 62 MeV is 694 MeV mb. The silicon yield was due to the Si28(,n)Si27, Si28(,2n)Si26, and Si28(,pn)Al26* reactions. Peak energies for secondary maxima are 40.10.9, 46.40.8, 52.50.8, and 58.21.0 MeV. The integrated cross section is 1957 MeV mb. © 1969 The American Physical Society.
