ELECTROCHEMICAL FABRICATION OF BIOACTIVE COMPOSITE COATINGS ON TI6A14V SURGICAL ALLOY

摘要
The concept of biological fixation of load-bearing implants, using bioactive calcium phosphate coatings, has received considerable attention in recent years. This paper reports a novel electrochemical method for the fabrication of bioactive composite coatings on Ti6Al4V surgical alloy at relatively low temperatures. Composite coatings fabricated in this work consist of two distinct layers: (a) an oxide base layer to minimize metal-ion release from the substrate and (b) a top layer, composed Of CO3-containing apatite to enhance bioactivity at the implant surface.
