ZERO-FIELD SPLITTINGS IN TRIS(OXALATOCHROMIUM) (3) COMPLEXES

摘要
The spin Hamiltonians of Cr(ox)33+ in the crystalline hosts K3Al(ox)3·3H2O, (NH 4)3Al(ox)3·2H2O, and Na 3Al(ox)3·5H2O have been evaluated from ESR spectroscopy and compared with the Cr3+:NaMgAl(ox) 3·9H2O results. The D parameter (0.72±0.06 cm-1) is relatively insensitive to environment but E varies from zero to 0.1 cm-1. A comparison of the ESR and optical spectra indicates the need to include rhombic components in ligand field treatments of 2E and 4T2 splittings. The so-called monoclinic and heated Ci3+ :NaMgAl(ox)3·9H2O forms behave identically in ESR and optical measurements.
