摘要
β-L-[1415N]Cyanoalanine administered to Lathyrus sylvestris W. seedlings formed asparagine with complete retention of cyano nitrogen. The β-cyanoalanine pathway for the young plant may be a means of conserving nitrogen as well as of detoxifying cyanide. The required β-L-[C15N]cyanoalanine was synthesized by hydrogenolysis of carbobenzoxy-L-β-[C15N]cyanoalanine benzyl ester, prepared by dehydration of known carbobenzoxy-L-[amide-15N]asparagine benzyl ester. (15NH4)2SO4 was the source of 15N. © 1969.
