摘要
Previous work has shown the β = 1 theta pinch to be stable for the mode m = 1 and unstable for m > 1. It is shown that a periodic theta pinch having a radius R(z) = R0 [1 + δf(z)], where δ ≪ 1, can be dynamically stabilized for m ≪ 1/δ.
