摘要
A method proposed by Wirzing for the determination of the number of hydroxyl groups per unit of surface area on silica by infrared spectroscopy was applied to a number of silica samples. The results were compared with the values obtained by the ignition method according to De Boer and Vleeskens. The infrared method gave slightly lower values than the latter method. The method of Wirzing does not allow of any conclusions as to what part of the hydroxyl groups is present on the surface and what part in the bulk of the silica sample. © 1969.
