摘要
The feasibility of the solid-state bonding of similar and dissimilar ferrous materials over a wide range of carbon contents, below the eutectoid (A1) transformation temperature has been demonstrated. Bonding is only readily obtained if one of the ferrous materials is superplastic. One advantage of employing such a low bonding temperature is that relatively minor metallurgical changes occur. Another advantage is that if one of the ferrous materials is very low in carbon and the other is not, then selective heat treatment, from just above the eutectoid temperature is possible. This concept is utilized to produce dual-hardness composites. © 1979.
