PHOTON-INDUCED QUANTUM PAIR CORRELATION IN AN IDEAL QUANTUM ATOMIC GAS WITH 2 INTERNAL LEVELS

摘要
In this Letter, a quantum field theory of the interaction of a laser field with an ideal quantum atomic gas composed of N identical and noninteracting two-level ultracold atoms is presented. Applying the theory to describe the motion of ultracold atoms in a standing wave laser, we find that the photon exchanges between the ultracold atoms induce an interatom interaction which results in quantum pair correlation of ultracold atoms. Such quantum correlation is very similar to that of electrons in a superconductor.
