A new accelerated computer oriented procedure is presented to determine the steady-state response of linear networks with internally and / or externally controlled switches. The technique is based on Newton's method for solving systems of equations, for which the Jacobian matrix is required. A method to compute this matrix, concurrently with the time-domain response, is presented. All possible switching conditions are considered, including changes in the switching times as the initial conditions are varied. The theory is applicable for networks with arbitrary topologies without restrictions on the number of switches, the continuity of the input signals or the circuit response; even Dirac impulses at the switching instants are permitted. An interactive computer program that is capable of performing both time-domain and steady-state analyses has been written. Several examples show the speed and accuracy of the proposed steady-state method.
