An experiment was designed to study the possible release of a circulating wound healing factor" from a cutaneous defect and the influence of such a factor on the healing of a second cutaneous wound made several days later. In studies on 44 guinea pigs no evidence was found of a circulating wound hormone which might stimulate the second wound to heal more rapidly. There was no significant difference in the rate of healing between the first and second wounds. © 1969."
