BE SEGREGATION IN ELECTRON-IRRADIATED DILUTE CU-BE ALLOYS

摘要
The influence of 3 MeV electron irradiation on the state of solution of Be in Cu was studied by means of analysis irradiations (AI). AIs performed at 80 K use the migrating interstitial as a probe for defects like solutes in the lattice. Test irradiations (TI) at different temperatures between 280 K and 410 K were interrupted after sufficient fluence increments by AIs in order to measure the solute concentration. The solute concentration was found to decrease approximately linearly with increasing fluence of the TIs. This decrease of solute concentration is interpreted by a solute depletion in the bulk of the sample volume and corresponding enrichment at point defect sinks as dislocations and grain boundaries. The observed kinetics indicate an interstitial transport mechanism like the migration of a tightly bound mixed dumbbell. © 1979.
