摘要
A new technique for manufacturing gear boxes is presented. The technique is based on the use of adhesive bonding as a replacement for the traditional methods of casting and welding. The philosophy of the design is to make use of the advantages of adhesives particularly for bonding different materials. This is because the novel technology of adhesive bonding allows dissimilar materials to be joined. The applicability of flexible manufacturing systems for the manufacture of the bonded gear box is also considered.
