DETECTION IN SPINACH LEAVES OF INHIBITOR (OXALATES) AND ACTIVATOR ACTING ON CHLOROPLAST PHENOLASE

摘要
Inhibitor and activator acting on chloroplast phenolase were detected in spinach leaves. The inhibitor was found to be ammonium oxalate, and oxalic acid exerted a similar inhibition. Several other dicarboxylic acids and their ammonium salts as well as some monocarboxylic acids showed no significant inhibitory effect. The reduction of enzyme activity by these oxalates was strengthened by pre-incubation with the enzyme. The activator is a low molecular weight, neutral and water-soluble substance, and some of its properties are described. The relationship between the amount of activator and its activation effect was given as a sigmoidal curve, and preincubation was required for full activation. © 1979.
