REACTION SITES FOR CARBON-MONOXIDE OXIDATION ON A STEPPED PLATINUM (112) SURFACE - A SPATIAL-DISTRIBUTION STUDY OF PRODUCT DESORPTION

摘要
The spatial distribution of reactive CO2 desorption on Pt(112) or Pt(s)3(111) x (001) was measured by means of angle-resolved thermal desorption. Heating of the coadlayer of CO and oxygen yields three CO2 formation peaks in the range of 200-400 K. The CO2 desorption in each peak is sharply collimated along the terrace surface normal, indicating the occurrence of a combinative reaction on the declining terraces.
