摘要
Effect of swirl on the flow and heat transfer in a three- dimensional variable property, asixymmetric laminar boundary layer is investigated theoretically. The type of swirl considered is that of a free vortex superimposed on the longitudinal flow of a perfect gas over a stationary, cooled surface. The effect of swirl, longitudinal flow acceleration and surface cooling is investigated for low-speed flow. Application to swirling flow through a conical-convergent nozzle indicates a predicted increase in heat transfer with swirl along the convergent section, but a small increase is predicted in the throat region where the heat transfer is highest for a nonswirling flow.
