REACTION OF FERROUS CHELATE NITROSYL COMPLEXES WITH SULFITE AND BISULFITE IONS

摘要
The reaction of ferrous chelate nitrosyl complexes with sulfite and bisulfite ions has been studied, and a mechanism for the reaction has been developed. The mechanism has three components: (a) the reaction of coordinated nitric oxide with sulfite ion to form (NO)2SO32-(b) the oxidation of FeII(L) (L = ligand) by (NO)2SO32-; (c) the redox reaction of FeII(L)NOHSO3-with FeII(L)NO to generate NOSO3-, which subsequently reacts with HSO3-to produce HON(SO3)2.2-The reaction products observed are Fe,IIIN2O, N2, SO42-', S2O62-, and HON(SO3)2.2-An empirical reaction rate expression for the FeII(NTA)NO and FeII(EDTA)NO complexes is reported. © 1990, American Chemical Society.
