摘要
1. Intracellular osmolyte concentrations increased quickly in heart cells of horseshoe crabs exposed to hyperosmotic stress. 2. During the adaptation period. the heart cells accumulated both inorganic ions (Na+, K+ and Cl-) and glycine betaine as active osmolytes. 3. Intracellular levels of inorganic ions and glycine betaine increased simultaneously following exposure to hyperosmotic conditions.
