摘要
Rats' choices for food sequences were studied in a titration paradigm. Three models of time discounting and a model of rate maximization were tested with choice between a sequence of five pellets delivered closely in time, and a sequence of five pellets with an inter-pellet delay. To estimate the delay at which rats were indifferent to either alternative, a fixed delay to the first pellet in the spaced sequence was maintained, and the time to the first pellet in the dense sequence was titrated. The results are contrary to a rate-maximization account, and favour a parallel discounting model of aggregate food value in which the sequence value is the simple sum of the discounted value of the individual items.
