摘要
The aqueous electrochemistry of [(phen)2MnIII(O)2MnIV(phen)2](ClO4)3 exhibits two reductions each of which is accompanied by the protonation of the bridging oxo group and are assigned to [(phen)2MnIII(O)2MnIV(phen)2]3+/[(phen)2MnIII(O)(OH)MnIII(phen)2]3+ and [(phen)2MnIII(O)(OH)MnIII(phen)2]3+/[(phen)2MnIII(OH)2MnII(phen)2]3+ couples. This observation has direct relevance to the oxidation of water to dioxygen in photosystem II. The pK(a) of the hydroxo group in the reduced species, [(phen)2MnIII(O)(OH)MnIII(phen)2]3+, has also been estimated.
