ELECTROTHERMAL ATOMIC-ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRIC DETERMINATION OF CADMIUM, CHROMIUM AND COBALT IN URANIUM WITHOUT PRELIMINARY SEPARATION

An atomic absorption spectrometric method with graphite tube atomization is described for the direct determination of cadmium (0.1-5 ppm), chromium (1-30 ppm) and cobalt (1-30 ppm) in uranium dissolved in nitric acid, with relative standard deviations of 5-10%. The presence of up to 7 mg of residual uranium in the carbon tube and 1000 ppm each of calcium, iron, silicon, tungsten and zinc in the sample did not cause any interference, but sample and standard solutions must contain the same concentrations of uranium. © 1979.
