PREPARATION INTENSITY DEPENDENCE OF THE EFFECTIVE CHI(2) IN GERMANOSILICATE GLASS

摘要
Experiments on the seeded preparation of frequency doubling germanosilicate fibers and fiber preforms reveal that a threshold intensity of approximately 5 GW/cm2 exists at which the second harmonic signal dramatically increases. The results of the preparation threshold experiments are supported by spatial sidelight measurements on the preform and by a correlation between the coherence length of prepared fibers and the intra-fiber intensity profile.
